Materials Science and Engineering

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This program meets the significant strategic needs of new materials industry, based in Shenzhen and radiating across the Greater Bay Area, cultivating high-level leading talents with innovative and engineering capabilities in the field of new materials. The program is divided into several specializations: New Energy Materials focuses on the national new energy industry's development needs, supported by platforms such as the Guangdong New Energy Materials Service Safety Key Laboratory, concentrating on the research and development and service safety of key materials like hydrogen energy and batteries. Polymer Materials, in response to national and Shenzhen Special Zone strategic development needs, concentrates on the development and application of new functional polymers, including polymer carbon fibers, biomedical polymers, and smart polymers. Optoelectronic Materials address key challenges in the optoelectronic industry, focusing on the research and application of new OLED materials, organic photovoltaic materials, optoelectronic sensing materials, and aggregation-induced emission materials. Electronic Information Materials cater to major demands of the electronic information industry, conducting research on information storage materials and devices, gallium nitride power chips, and more, with support from national key laboratories. Smart Materials bring together the development of advanced organic/inorganic smart materials and their applications in fields such as fluorescence detection, optical therapy, inkjet printing, and photoresists. Doctoral students are trained under a mentorship system, combining individual mentorship with collective guidance from a mentor group.

Courses related to new energy materials and devices, optoelectronic information materials, functional polymer materials, solid-state physics, etc.

CAREER PROSPECTS

In recent years, most of our graduates have taken root in Shenzhen after graduation, working for well-known companies both domestically and internationally, such as Huawei, SMIC, BYD, ZTE Communications, TCL Technology Group, and others.

楊海朋,博士,教授,深圳市優秀教師,深圳市海外高層次B類人才。長期從事納米催化材料制備及其分析傳感研究開發了多種疾病標志物快速定量檢測方法,制備了多種生物傳感器。在國內外專業期刊上發表SCI論文70多篇;主持完成十余項國家、省、市等各級科研項目及企業合作項目。獲得授權專利16項(其中發明專利7項),轉讓專利2項,獲中國國際高新技術成果交易會優秀產品獎1項。

Haipeng Yang, Ph.D., professor, Shenzhen outstanding teacher, Shenzhen overseas high-level Class B talent. He has long been engaged in research on the preparation of nanocatalytic materials and their analytical sensing. He has developed rapid quantitative detection methods for a variety of disease biomarkers and prepared a variety of biosensors. He has published more than 70 SCI papers in professional journals; he has presided over more than ten scientific research projects and enterprise cooperation projects. Obtained 16 authorized patents (including 7 invention patents), 2 transferred patents, and won 1 China International High-tech Achievement Fair Excellent Product Award.

劉靜,博士,教授,博士生導師。武漢大學凝聚態物理專業獲理學博士學位,先后赴多倫多大學、香港中文大學擔任訪問學者,曾任武漢科技大學黨委常委、副校長。現任中國腐蝕與防護學會副理事長及廣東省新能源材料服役安全重點實驗室主任。主要從事材料服役安全、金屬結構材料以及金屬能源材料等研究工作,在研項目包括開發耐海水腐蝕材料、耐氫脆材料、耐鉛鉍腐蝕材料、新能源汽車用結構鋼以及增材制造用合金材料。在J. Mater. Sci. Tech., Corros. Sci., Mater. Design., Int. J. Hydrogen Energy, Mater. Sci. Eng. A等國內外權威期刊發表論文300余篇。

Jing LIU, Doctor, Professor, doctoral supervisor. She received her PhD in Condensed Matter Physics from Wuhan University and served as a visiting scholar at the University of Toronto and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She also served as a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Wuhan University of Science and Technology. She is currently the Vice Chairwoman of the Chinese Corrosion and Protection Society and the Director of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of New Energy Materials Service Safety. Her research focus is on service-safety materials, metallic structural materials and metallic energy materials, current research projects cover developments of seawater corrosion-resistant materials, hydrogen embrittlement resistant materials, lead-bismuth corrosion resistant materials, structural steel for new energy vehicle, and alloy for additive manufacturing. She has published more than 300 papers in refereed journals including J. Mater. Sci. Tech., Corros. Sci., Mater. Design., Int. J. Hydrogen Energy, Mater. Sci. Eng. A, etc.

材料學院特聘教授,博士生導師。研究方向為功能復合材料的結構與功能設計及其性能研究,包括減振降噪復合材料、電磁吸收與屏蔽復合材料、散熱基板材料等。主持多項國家級與省部級項目,獲得省部級科技進步一等獎3項;Polymer Testing副主編,在AM、Nano Energy, AFM,ACS Nano,CEJ,JMCA等期刊上發表論文200余篇,H因子44,授權40余項專利。

Specially-appointed Professor, doctoral supervisor in College of Materials Science and Engineering of Shenzhen University. Researches focus on the structural and functional designing of composite materials, including noise and vibration reducing composite materials, electromagnetic wave absorbing and shielding composite materials, heat dissipation substrate materials, etc. Prof.Liu has been undertaken a number of national and provincial projects, awarding with 3 science and technology prizes. Prof.Liu is one of the Associate Editor of Polymer Testing, has published more than 200 papers in Advanced Materials, Nano Energy, Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Nano, Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Material and Chemical A, etc., with a H-factor of 44, granting more than 40 patents.

特聘教授,美國化工協會高級會員,曾擔任美國化學工程師協會納米顆粒組主席。1999年獲清華大學博士學位。在美國500強公司科研和管理崗位工作了20年,有統籌和管理跨國技術團隊和科研項目的經驗。長期從事顆粒技術研究進行產品開發和開展工藝設計,多次成功地把實驗室的研究成果通過中試量產轉化成商業化產品。研究方向主要開發不同特性的微納米顆粒材料,用于新能源電池、半導體、先進高分子復合材料等領域。已發表論文40余篇,授權美國和國際發明專利4項。

Distinguished Professor, Senior Member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), and former Chairman of the Nanoparticle Group of the AIChE. He received his Ph.D. from Tsinghua University in 1999. He has 20 years of work experience in the Fortune 500 companies in R&D and management positions and has experience in coordinating and managing multinational technical teams and research projects. He has been engaged in particle technology research for product development and process design for a long time and has successfully transformed the research results of the laboratory into commercial products through pilot development many times. His research interests include the development of micro and nano particle materials with multiple functional properties, which are used in new energy batteries, semiconductors, advanced polymer composite materials and other fields. He has published more than 40 journal papers and authorized four American and international invention patents.
